Accessibility Statement

Our ongoing effort to make this site usable for as many readers as possible.

Last updated: January 2026

Our commitment

Wings of Wind LLC wants our articles and guides to be usable by as many readers as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. Accessibility is something we keep working on, not a box we consider permanently ticked.

The standard we aim for

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, level AA, as our ongoing target. We treat this as a goal we design and build toward, not as a formal certification or a claim that every page fully conforms at every moment. As we publish new content and update the site, we work to bring it closer to that standard.

Measures we take

  • Semantic, properly nested headings so the structure of a page can be understood by assistive technology.
  • Descriptive alternative text on photographs so readers using screen readers understand what an image shows.
  • Navigation menus and interactive elements that can be operated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.
  • Colour choices designed with sufficient contrast between text and background for readability.
  • Responsive text that resizes cleanly across different screen sizes and browser zoom levels.
  • Visible focus indicators so keyboard users can see which element is currently selected.
  • No automatically playing audio or video, so media only plays when a reader chooses to start it.

Known limitations

We aim to be honest about where we still fall short. In particular:

  • Some embedded third party content, such as maps or video players from other providers, may not fully meet our accessibility standard, since we do not control how those providers build their tools.
  • A small number of older articles may have photograph captions or descriptions that are less detailed than our current standard, and we are gradually working through these as we update content.
  • Some of our longer destination guides are text dense by nature, and while we structure them with headings and lists, very long articles can still be demanding to navigate for some readers.

How we test

We review pages using a mix of manual keyboard testing, automated accessibility checking tools, and periodic manual review of colour contrast and page structure as we build and update the site. This is an ongoing process rather than a one time audit.

Reporting an accessibility problem

If you find a page or feature on wings-of-wind.com that is difficult to use with assistive technology, we want to know about it. Please get in touch through our contact page or by phone at +1 503-828-4019, and include if you can:

  • The web address of the page where you had a problem.
  • A description of what happened and what you were trying to do.
  • The browser, device or assistive technology you were using, if relevant.

Our response target

We aim to acknowledge and look into accessibility reports within ten working days. Depending on the nature of the issue, a full fix may take longer, particularly for problems that involve third party embedded content, but we will let you know what we find and what we plan to do about it.

Getting the same information another way

If you are unable to access a particular piece of content on the site, you can contact us by phone at +1 503-828-4019 or through our contact page, and we will do our best to provide the same information in another way, such as by describing it over the phone or sending it in a more accessible format.
